Coyote vs. Acme is a terrific return to the world of Looney Tunes, combining live action and animation in a way that recalls Who Framed Roger Rabbit. When Wile E. Coyote decides to take Acme Corporation to court over its disastrous products, he teams up with struggling lawyer Kevin Avery, played by Will Forte. John Cena provides an entertaining adversary as Acme's corporate lawyer, while familiar characters including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Foghorn Leghorn help bring the story to life. The premise is inspired, turning decades of cartoon mishaps into a legal comedy with a surprisingly relevant target in corporate greed.
The animation is excellent, the humour captures the spirit of the original cartoons, and the relationship between Wile E. and Avery gives the film genuine warmth. It also explores friendship, perseverance and standing up to powerful organisations without losing sight of its comic roots. The main drawback is the pacing, with the 100-minute runtime feeling slightly long and some sections needing a tighter edit. Even so, Coyote vs. Acme is funny, inventive and thoroughly entertaining. I loved it, and its clever premise and excellent use of the Looney Tunes characters make it well worth watching.
