REVIEW: Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Toddler Learning Toy Smart Stages Chair

The Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Chair in pink is an interactive learning seat for children aged one year and above, designed around lights, music and sound effects with more than 120 songs, phrases and responses that activate when a child sits, stands or presses different features. It includes a flipbook, a light-up pretend remote and a lift-up seat cushion with hidden surprises, and it is built to support early learning around colours, shapes, numbers, counting and opposites while encouraging cause and effect through play. The three Smart Stages levels are designed to grow with the child, starting with simple exploration at around 12 months, moving into guided learning around 18 months, and then progressing into early imaginative play from around 24 months, with language options in English, German and French.

In use, it is easy to put together and the sound quality is clear, with the interactive elements working well across the seat, flipbook and remote so that almost every action triggers a response. This makes it engaging for a child close to one year old and gives it potential for continued use as they develop through the stages. However, it does require batteries which are not included, and there is a more serious concern around stability as the chair can tip if a child leans too far back, with a risk of feet becoming caught if it tips and returns. Because of this, supervision is necessary and it is safest when placed against a wall or solid surface.
