REVIEW: R-Type Dimensions III (2026 Video Game) on PS5

R-Type Dimensions III is a remastered return to the classic shoot em up formula, set within the ongoing conflict against the Bydo Empire and featuring the R-90 Ragnarok fighter. It updates the original experience with rebuilt visuals and sound while retaining the core arcade structure. A key feature is the ability to switch between original and remastered presentation instantly, which reinforces its nostalgic appeal and highlights how the series has evolved.

The game preserves the series’ high difficulty, relying heavily on memorisation, pattern recognition and repeated attempts to progress through stages. New additions such as infinite mode, co-op play, customisable controls, quality of life settings and adjustable camera options modernise the experience without changing its core identity. However, issues such as bugs affecting hit detection and projectiles, along with a price point of over £30 for a remastered release, are clear drawbacks that affect the overall value.

REVIEW: Romancing SaGa-Minstrel Song-Remastered International (Video Game on Nintendo Switch)

Romancing SaGa Minstrel Song Remastered International is a challenging and deliberately old school RPG that focuses on freedom and experimentation over guidance. The free scenario system lets you pick from eight protagonists and explore the world without being pushed along a fixed path, which creates a strong sense of discovery but also frequent confusion.

The combat system is one of its strongest elements, built around Glimmer and Combo mechanics that reward learning and tactical thinking in battle. At the same time, the game is defined by its steep difficulty, grinding, and lack of clear direction, which can be frustrating for some players. Overall, it is a faithful remaster of a cult classic that offers depth and personality, but demands patience and tolerance for its harsh design.
