It updates the original experience with rebuilt visuals and sound while retaining the core arcade structure. A key feature is the ability to switch between original and remastered presentation instantly, which reinforces its nostalgic appeal and highlights how the series has evolved.
The game preserves the series’ high difficulty, relying heavily on memorisation, pattern recognition and repeated attempts to progress through stages. New additions such as infinite mode, co-op play, customisable controls, quality of life settings and adjustable camera options modernise the experience without changing its core identity. However, issues such as bugs affecting hit detection and projectiles, along with a price point of over £30 for a remastered release, are clear drawbacks that affect the overall value.
